Meet Lori, and her most beloved Tulip Shade

Greetings, Tulip family! Today we want to introduce you to someone special, the first person on our team, our founder, the mastermind and the lightlover behind the whole Tulip endeavor:

Lori is a businesswoman, a mother, a friend to many, a connoisseur of taste and style and good lighting (not to mention she literally has Blake Lively hair. She’ll blush when she reads this, but it’s true!) Lori conceived the idea of Tulip while visiting a party in a college dorm room of a friend's son. Disturbed by the harsh overhead fluorescents, she tacked a pair of red boxers over the offending bulbs and bathed the soiree in a warm glow. Thus, the idea of Tulip hatched in her mind. But which of the Tulip designs is her personal favorite…?

… it’s the Natural Gem, of course! Our bestseller, this neutral yet stylish design takes inspiration from Eastern lanterns, imbuing a modern sensibility into timeless silhouette and color. Drawing on natural fibers and recognizing the need for simplicity in our colorful lives, the Gem in Natural is ubiquitous, elegant, and never goes out of fashion.

Of course, this isn’t to say Lori isn’t a fan of our entire collection — the decision was near impossible to make, especially considering there’s lovely styles simply within the Gem family — effervescent Sunlight and floral Blossom are sitting right there! And speaking of Natural, the Drum and the Lamp have made some very interesting points as well. That’s not to speak of our Leaf and Terracotta styles, all personal favorites of our fearless leader.

Well, we know Lori prefers to let the Shades speak for themselves, so we won’t keep embarrassing her — but seriously, she’s an incredible, lovely, beautiful and kind person, and to be able to see her vision flourish is a delight.
