Charlie Hourston

Charlie Hourston very much has the makings of a cool girl's cool girl. Her eponymous brand Charlie Beads is a staple for a very specific corner of the internet. She's run the brand out of her home for the past six years, giving a second life to forgotten textiles.

She'll tell you she manifested. It’s an older LA building with colored tiles and massive windows. When she moved in there was almost no furniture. Now there's her boyfriend Arthur's paintings, furniture he built for her, her grandmother's purse stand. The rest of her space: collecting in quintessential LA style — found on the side of the road, marketplace, friends who find things for each other.

Charlie doesn't sit down to have ideas. They arrive on a walk, at the beach, in a room full of women she loves. Her team, her friends, her family. She notices something and asks herself if she's the one to make it. The research never really stops.

At night, when the rooms are lit up and music is playing and she's cooked a fabulous meal. That's when she feels most at home. After spending the day with her, we get it.
